ABOUT
A security research lab that tackles practical problems.
We bring academic rigour to the Web3 landscape. Our team includes researchers with deep backgrounds in formal methods, distributed systems, and applied cryptography, with a track record of applying these skills to real systems.
The people behind the security division
Team Lead, Senior Research Scientist
Pedro leads the smart contract security practice at TBTL. His research is the analytical backbone of both the EVM and ZK audit services.
His work on Solidity spans Solidifier (a bounded model checker for Solidity, ACM SAC 2021), Specification is Law (formal frameworks for safe contract deployment and upgradeability, SEFM 2022 and Software and Systems Modeling 2024), and LLM-assisted formal specification extraction (FACS 2024). His most recent work is NAVe (arXiv 2026), a formal verifier for Noir, the research foundation for TBTL's ZK program analysis capability.
Founder, TBTL · Advisor
Bill is the founder of TBTL and one of the most cited researchers in formal methods and concurrency theory. He served as Head of the Computer Science Department at Oxford University and is the author of The Theory and Practice of Concurrency, a foundational text in the field. His work on CSP (Communicating Sequential Processes) and the FDR model checker has shaped how formal verification is applied to concurrent and distributed systems.
Part of a broader technology company
The security division is one part of TBTL's wider portfolio. TBTL was founded to apply research-grade rigour to the hardest problems in digital security.
